This-plant is about 45 miles north of the town I recently moved to. Had I known that there was a possibility of an extension of operations of this plant, I would not have moved here. If it is approved, I definitely will not be buying property in this region due to safety concerns and property values. In all liklihood, I will relocate. It's just that scary to someone who understands probability, statistics and cold, hard facts.

My background is in economics and technology with a focus on risk assessment and business continuity planning. The risk assessments released by the NRC are based on faulty assumptions beginning with the operating premise that the plant is new. It extrapolates from there. An independent assessment should be done on safety margins based on the age of the reactor and its operating history.

There are a number of other concerns I have with the assessment. Everything points to a report with a predetermined outcome favoring the Entergy Corporation. Please do the professional and right thing by commissioning a genuinely independent safety assessment so that those of us living in the region can make decisions based on an objective assessment based on objective, fact-based measurements .
