FORT CALHOUN STATON, UNIT 1 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NO. MC9296)
Dear Mr. Ridenoure:
By letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated December 19, 2005, Omaha Public Power District (OPPD/the licensee) applied for an amendment to the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit No. 1 (FCS), Facility Operating License No. DPR-40. The proposed change would have revised the FCS Technical Specifications (TS) pertaining to TS Table 3-13, Steam Generator Tube Inspection, and would have deleted TS Table 3-14, Steam Generator Tube Sleeve Inspection. Specifically, this proposed change would have deleted the sleeving repair alternative for the plugging steam generator tubes.
The NRC staff determined that additional information is needed to complete the review. OPPD stated that because the review has been extended possibly beyond the upcoming refueling outage, a decision was made to withdraw the amendment request. The licensee plans to resubmit an amendment implementing Technical Specification Task Force (TSTF)-449 instead.
As such, by letter dated January 20, 2006, OPPD withdrew the amendment request.
The purpose of this letter is to advise that the above cited application is being treated as withdrawn. The Notice of Consideration of Issuance of the proposed amendment had not been published in the Federal Register.
