HIGH PRIORITY GUIDANCE DOCUMENTS WITHIN THE NUCLEAR MATERIALS AND WASTE SAFETY PROGRAMS In Staff Requirements Memorandum (SRM) COMSECY-05-0024, dated August 19, 2005, the Commission directed the staff to develop a plan for updating high priority guidance documents in the Nuclear Materials and Radioactive Waste Safety Programs. The SRM also requested that staff provide an estimate of the resources necessary to accomplish these activities.
In response to your request, we are providing a listing of high priority guidance in the enclosed table. The table reflects the guidance document title, type of action, and the Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 budgeted resource estimate, unless otherwise noted for high priority documents. FY 2007 resource requirements are being addressed as part of the FY 2008 planning, budget, and performance management (PBPM) review. As part of the budget process, consistent with the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards planning for organizational capacity, we will be looking at the infrastructure needs for guidance development and maintenance in the FY 2008 budget cycle and beyond.
