- OCTOBER 18, 2005 CATEGORY 1 PUBLIC MEETING - VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, DOCKET NO. 50-395
Dear Mr. Archie:
This refers to the Category 1 public meeting conducted at your request at the Region II Office on October 18, 2005, at 1:00 p. m. The meetings purpose was to discuss the Spring 2005 refueling outage and provide an overview of your plans to address containment sump blockage issues. Enclosed is a list of attendees and the presentation handout. At your request the enclosed presentation handout contains a revised page 7 which corrects an error.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial, in that, it provided the NRC staff with an understanding of your accomplishments and challenges during the previously completed refueling outage and the measures planned to enhance future outages based upon lessons learned. In addition, the discussion on planned recirculation sump design changes to address sump blockage issues and their current status was informative.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
