Exemptions, DHM-31 Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit Nos. 1 & 2; DocketNos. 50-317 & 50-318 Request for Exemption from Requirements of 49 CFR Part 173 Related to the Shipment of Reactor Vessel Closure Heads to RACE. LLC in Memphis TN Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Inc. (CCNPP) seeks relief from Department of Transportation requirements within 49 CFR Part 173 relating to the transport of the Reactor Vessel Closure Head packages from CCNPP Units 1 and 2 located in Lusby, MD to the RACE, LLC processing facility in Memphis, TN. Relief is requested from the requirements of 49 CFR 173.403, 49 CFR 173.427(bXl),
49 CFR 173.465(c), and 49 CFR 173.465(d) as specified in Attachment (1).
A summary report is included as Attachment (2). Required Transportation and-Emergency Response Plans are included as Attachment (3).
An assessment of thimble support plate disposal options is included as Attachment (4).
Our exemption request is submitted for consideration, at least 120 days before the requested effective date of April 14, 2006, in accordance with 49 CFR 107.105(a)(1) requirements.
