Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555-0001 Gentlemen:

In the Matter of

)

Docket Nos. 50-259 50-327 Tennessee Valley Authority

)

50-260 50-328 50-296 50-390 REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF TIME-TO RESPOND TO "DEMAND FOR INFORMATION" FOR BROWNS FERRY, SEQUOYAH, AND WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANTS In separate December 2, 2005, letters from James E. Dyer to Mr. Brian J. O'Grady, Mr. Randy Douet, and Mr. Michael Skaggs, TVA received a "Demand for Information" pertaining to our Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants, respectively.

Pursuant to these letters and under oath or affirmation, we are required to file an answer within 35 days (i.e., on or before January 6, 2006).

Developing responses to the "Demand for Information" will require the collection (and verification) of information from numerous sources, as well as analyses.

This, coupled with the intervening holidays, will make compliance with the schedule extremely difficult.

Accordingly, we are requesting an additional two weeks to respond to these requests (i.e., to January 20, 2006).

Granting an extension of time will not delay the substantive adoption of strategies and therefore will have no adverse impact on safety.

In addition, efforts directed at identifying additional strategies as part of ongoing Phase 3 activities will not be affected.

A response to this request for an extension of time is needed by December 19, 2005.
