NRC NEWS U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Office of Public Affairs Telephone: 301/415-8200 Washington, DC 20555-001 E-mail: opa@nrc.gov Web Site: http://www.nrc.gov No.05-166 December 8, 2005 NRC ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON NUCLEAR WASTE TO MEET IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND, DEC. 13-15 The Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Advisory Committee on Nuclear Waste (ACNW) will meet Dec. 13-15 in Rockville, Md., to continue to discuss, among other items, the NRCs plans for the implementation of the Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) dose standard for the proposed geologic repository at Yucca Mountain after 10,000 years. The committee will continue its discussions with NRC staff from the Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards and be briefed on the subjects of radionuclide inventory, and the effects of climate change and dosimetry, which are addressed in the EPA dose standard.

The committee reports to and advises the Commission on all aspects of nuclear waste management.

The sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The session on Thursday will run from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room T-2B3 of the agencys Two White Flint North Building, at 11545 Rockville Pike.
