Independent Safety Assessment Please require an independant safety assessment as prerequisite to any uprate, or operating license extension at V.Y..

This, in consideration of the following events:

Unexpected shutdowns at VT Yankee in both 2004 and 2005; Transformer fire; Metallugical / technical issues regarding the steam dryer and cooling pumps.

Also, in consideration of the following 2 major breaches of common sense and of of the public's trust:

1) The lost fuel rods:
2) VY remained "hot" during the regional flood of early October which heavily damaged or closed many area roads.

A successful emergency evacuation would have been improbale duriog this period.

Corporate responsibility for Entergy Vermont Yankee clearly ends at the bottom line.

Based on this history, a power uprate and, or license extension will not be in the best interests of the citizens of the region.

Thank you for your consideration.

Me It.
