WASHINGTON STATE v UNIVERSITY Nuclear Radiation Center November 21, 2005 Marvin Mendonca Project Director Mail Stop 12 G13 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Mr. Mendonca, As a follow up to the letter dated July 1 0th, 2005, I am pleased to inform the Commission that the Washington State University Nuclear Radiation Center (WSUNRC) has returned to compliance with our surveillance requirements as of November 2 15', 2005.
Section 4.3.1 part (5) (page 26) of our Technical Specifications denotes "The reactor shall be pulsed semiannually to compare fuel temperature measurements and peak power levels with those of previous pulses of the same reactivity."
As noted on a recent inspection, this is currently an unresolved item (URI 50-27/2005-201-01). With the successful performance of a $2.00 pulse on 11/21, the WSUNRC considers the matter closed.
If there are any questions, please feel free to contact the WSUNRC.
Sincerely, Dr. Ken Spitzer, Interim Director PO Box 641300, Pullman, WA 99164-1300 509-335-8641
