REGION I DAILY STAFF NOTES July 14, 2004 Region I On July 13, 2004, Entergy announced in a press release that workers at Vermont Yankee had located the two missing fuel rod segments. The two fuel rod segments were found in a 40-inch aluminum cylinder in the spent fuel pool. The cylinder is unlike typical storage containers but is similar to other aluminum structures and tools in the pool. The NRC will continue to monitor Entergy's activities to confirm that the contents of the cylinder are the missing fuel rod segments.
