Attached, please find the information you've requested regarding the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant (MNGP) Environmental Report. Please contact me if you encounter any difficulty in opening the attachments.
- 1) Distance to the onsite nest, direction to the onsite nest, confirm the name of the island where onsite nest is located:
See "IslandMaps.pdf". One active Bald Eagle nest is located on Beaver Island. The nest is located approximately 1000 feet NW of the power block. In addition, the onsite nest is approximately 550 feet east of the 11 5-kV transmission line.
- 2) Confirm that the island is within the site boundary, Confirm that the island and land on opposite side of the river are posted:
Beaver Island is within the site boundary, and is the property of Northern States Power. See "SecuritySignage.doc" for descriptions of the posted security signs.
- 3) Verify that both nests are active, state that you are following MNDNR Nesting Guidelines, confirm that any transmission line maintenance near

As observed in July 2005, both Bald Eagle nesting sites are active. Xcel Energy is following MNDNR Nesting Guidelines. "EagleVegMgmt.tif" includes the portions of the 2005 Xcel Energy Vegetation Management Guidelines which outline sensitivities to Bald Eagle nest sites.
4)Provide any studies regarding freshwater mussels that have been completed in the vicinity of the plant.
"Kelner_Davis_2002.pdf" and "Davis_2004.pdf" are the most recent freshwater mussel surveys completed in the vicinity of MNGP. "2005 Hoffman MNDNR Mussels.txt" is an email correspondence between NMC and the MNDNR regarding mussel species documented in the vicinity of the plant. "2005_NMCMusselUpdate.doc" attempts to connect the two MNDNR surveys with the 1940 survey by J.B. Moyle, which is included (partial copy) as "Moylel 940.tif."
- 5) "MNGPPermitsRevl.doc" lists the current status of all MNGP permits.
