On 10/29/05 a planned Reactor shutdown started a Maintenance Outage established for measurement of fuel channels and replacement of those not meeting pre-established criteria.
The Maintenance Outage schedule specifies activities that replace the channels of some in-core fuel bundles as well as replacing some bundles with those from previous fuel cycles. This activity will correct the issue of excess control cell friction experienced during control rod testing earlier this year.
The Maintenance Outage is planned to be complete in mid November.
Summary.
Unit 1 Reactor achieved 100% power on 10/03/05 following a planned power reduction for control rod friction testing that began on 9/30/05. Three(3) planned power reductions greater than 20% were performed in October for Control Rod adjustments and testing. (10/04 to 80% power, 10/08 to 79% power and 10/14 to 75%
power).
A planned maintenance outage was also initiated on 10/29/05 to correct issues with increased Control Cell friction that caused some extended Control Rod travel times. The Maintenance Outage is scheduled to end in mid November.
