O's and A's on fuel pins
- Jim, I did a Google News search by date using "Vermont Yankee" and keywords "missing" and "fuel." The story on the fuel pins has already been picked up by well over 100 papers or other media outlets (even some outside the US) and I saw news reports on Fox and CNN last night. We should discuss when we need the Q's and A's, based on the already extensive coverage. Note, the Brattle Reformer quoted David O'Brien as saying that he plans to discuss the fule pin issue with us during our call this morning and that his the States primary concern, uprate is secondary. We should assess whether we need others on the call this morning (e.g., Dave Pelton) based on the topics of dicussion this morning. Here's the article:

- Thanks, Rick

- Donna, We are now scheduled to have a Commission TA brief tomorrow about 10:30 am re: the VY fuel pin issue.
Please set up a bridge for our use... the Region will have the lead for the details of the brief. I will attend, as will Rick - we may get into comm team issues, so you should sit in as well!
BTW, the Region has the lead for developing Os and As for the pin issue - but will need some HO help (mostly NSIR, but may be some of ours) with developing both the Os and As. Your role, as a minimum (you can always get outside the box to find other areas in which to take the lead or add additional value) would be to facilitate NSIR Os and As, and help develop other HO-lead Os and As, and get them back to the Region. Cliff Anderson has the Os and As developed for the Millstone that might be a good starting point... the whole comm team can help, and we should make sure we keep them all them informed as we progress through the various iterations.
More fun to follow, I'm sure (as you can tell from the time of this email!).
