Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001 Palisades Nuclear Plant Docket 50-255 License No. DPR-20 Response to Request for Additional Information Re: Response to NRC Guidance Regarding Mitigation Strategies Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) submitted a response to NRC Guidance Regarding Mitigation Strategies for the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP) on May 25, 2005.
On August 10, 2005, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sent, via electronic mail, a request for additional information (RAI) related to the PNP submittal. The electronic request required that a teleconference be scheduled to discuss the RAI questions. A verbally communicated due date of 30 days was requested by NRC Staff.
Subsequently, Edward J. Weinkam, NMC, received approval from Robert Gramm and Michael Webb, NRC, to submit NMC responses to the RAI within 45 days from the date of the teleconferences for each NMC site.
The PNP teleconference was scheduled for August 30, 2005, however, due to the unavailability of a secure line, the call could not be conducted. It was agreed between NMC and NRC Staff that the call would not be rescheduled, and that the PNP submittal would be due on October 14, 2005. Enclosed is the PNP response.
NOTE: ENCLOSURE I TO THIS LETTER CONTAINS "SAFEGUARDS INFORMATION" AND MUST BE PROTECTED ACCORDINGLY. UPON REMOVAL OF ENCLOSURE 1, THIS LETTER IS "DECONTROLLED."
