Neil Sheehan Cv Allen Howe; Cliff Anderson; Donna Skay; Rick Ennis 8/4/04 2:15PM Vermont to seek hearing FYI, The Rutland Herald just called regarding a decision by Vermont to definitely seek a hearing on the Vermont Yankee power uprate. The reporter talked to VY DPS Commissioner David O'Brien, who told him they would go ahead and request a hearing for two key reasons: 1.) they are still confused about the containment pressure issue even after reviewing the recent NRC response to Bill Sherman's questions on the matter; and 2.) they're not pleased that it took the NRC eight months to respond to Mr. Sherman's questions. (With regard to the latter question, I told the reporter we always do our best to be responsive, while pointing out that we have numerous things on our plate and that the response to Mr. Sherman required some research.)
The reporter, who is filling in this week for the reporter who usually covers VY, asked many questions about the topic. He was provided with a copy of our response to Bill Sherman. We can expect the story to run tomorrow.
