- All, All, Mary Frances Repko (member of Senator James Jeffords' Committee on Environment and Public Works) along with Patrick Rankin (research assistant) and Heidi Scheuermann (assistant to Senator Jeffords) were on-site to perform a plant tour and to visit with the resident inspectors.
The meeting with Mary Frances, Patrick, and Heidi was very cordial. I briefly explained the role of the NRC as a regulator as well as the role of the resident inspectors. We briefly discussed the ROP and our assessment process (IMC 0305). We also discussed the resident inspector follow-up on the SNM investigation, the main transformer fire, and the recent Aim's Hill transmitter failure events at VY.
I introduced Mary Frances to Todd Jackson and Martha Williams (SNM Special Inspection team).
Mary Frances asked Todd and Martha a few general questions regarding the investigation and mentioned the GAO's planned review of the NRC's SNM inspection process.
