DRPnews Vermont Yankee Transformer Fire At 6:50 am on Friday June 18, 2004 morning, Vermont Yankee declared an Unusual Event as a result of a fire in the main transformer (greater than 10 minutes in duration) and resultant reactor trip (generator load reject). The fire was eventually extinguished and declared out at 7:51 am.
The residents immediately responded to the event. The Region I Incident Response Center was staffed to support the residents and to follow the licensee's response to the fire. The NRC did not enter the Monitoring Mode.
