- Carolyn, While the Office of Inspector General is part of the NRC, it is also autonomous. Therefore, you would have to check with that office regarding any inquiries it may have under way. You can reach the NRC OIG at (301) 415-5930.
We have clear-cut procedures for reviewing allegations involving plant safety. If there are "accusations" involving NRC staff, they would be referred to the Office of the Inspector General. Again, you would have to check with the office as far as its timeframes for reviewing assertions pertaining to agency staff members.
On a related topic, I'm about to fax you a letter the NRC sent to Mr. Shadis recently. It addresses the questions regarding the indepdence of the agency's review of Vermont Yankee's power uprate application, among other things. I thought you might find it useful since that topic keeps coming up.

Hi Neil, I just spoke with Ray Shadis of the New England Coalition. He told me that he will be meeting with two people from the Office of the Inspector General - Jim Taylor and Ronnie Bucchi. Can you confirm that these are the people who will be meeting with Shadis and if they are can you tell me what their titles are?
Also, can you tell me what the procedure is for investigating an accusation? Is there a time frame?
