Dear Sir I Madam:
Subject:
VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION 1/
DOCKET NO. 50/395 OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 70 FR 51098, "Notice of Opportunity to Comment on Model Safety Evaluation on Elimination of Typical License Condition Requiring Reporting of Violations of Section 2.C of Operating License Using the Consolidated Line Item Improvement Process,' August 29, 2005 South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) supports the proposed change described in the subject Federal Register notice. We agree with the staffs technical evaluation that the requirement to report in accordance with the license condition is not needed because the information related to such violations that is important to the NRC's regulatory functions would become available through the inspection program, Licensee Event Reports, licensing actions, public announcements, or some other regulatory mechanism. We fully endor. the comments prepared and submitted on behalf of the commercial nuclear power Industry by NNEi.
Should you have any questions, please call Mr. Ronald Clary (803-345-4151) at your convenience.
