Submittal of United States Maritime Administration answer to July 19,2005 Generic Order (EA-05-007) issued by Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).
This letter is intended to comply with the requirement to submit an answer within 20 days of the issuance of the Generic Order (EA-05-007) that is dated July 19,2005 and issued by.
Mr. J.E. Dyer, Director, Office of NRR. The Maritime Administration consents to this order and will incorporate the subject additional security measures into its established procedures. These measures will be implemented when and as required for shipment. Please note that the N.S. SAVANNAH facility has not shipped radioactive waste since approximately 1975, and has no near-term plans to ship radioactive materials; thus, implementation compliance with the terms of this order shall be as prescribed in paragraph III.A; i.e., "before the next shipment after the 180 day implementation period of this order."
