Point Beach Unit 1 Leaking Main Steam Valve, CIV Compliance Question Pat and Jamnes, Here's an update on the I MS-228 (Unit I 'A' SG header Drain and Trap Isolation).

Current Status Unit I at NOPiNOT. I MS-228 leaking from body-to-bonnet joint at 4 drops/second.

Chronoloav

1) 614/04, 0150. AO identifies steam leak. 1 MS-228 was Identified as a first-off isolation valve, upstream of the Unit 1 'A' SG MSIV. Unit 1 heatup following a refueling outage was In progress. Unit 1 was In Mode 3 (Hot Standby).
2) 614/04, 0315, Ops attempts to shut 1 MS-228. Unsuccessful, leakage increased as valve was being shut.
3) 6/4/04, 0345. Decided that LCO 3.6.3, Containment Isolation Valves, not met. Enter TSAC 3.6.3.C.1 to isolate affected penetration within 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />. LCO start time taken back to 0150.
4) 6/4104, 0414. RCS heatup stopped. Hold at 500F, 2235 psig.
5) 6/4/04, 1235. 1MS-228 is shut. Control room log records leakage from IMS-228 as being stopped.

72 hour8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> LCO exited. TSAC 3.6.3.C.2 to verify 1MS-228 is shut once per 31 days is entered.

6) 6/4/04, 1600. Control room log notes that 1 MS-228 continues to drip slightly.
