SUMMARY

OF MAY 25, 2005, MEETING WITH VEPCO ON TOPICAL REPORT DOM-NAF-2 (TAC NOS. MC4573 AND MC4574)

On May 25, 2005, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of VEPCO at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss VEPCOs proposed licensing actions to implement Topical Report DOM-NAF-2, Reactor Core Thermal-Hydraulics Using the VIPRE-D Computer Code, upon approval by the NRC staff.

VEPCO plans to submit the license amendment request in June 2005, and requests NRC approval by Fall 2006 to support the Spring 2007 North Anna, Unit 2 refueling outage. A list of attendees is provided in the attachment.

The licensee presented information discussing the proposed licensing actions and schedule for North Anna to implement the VIPRE-D computer code as its thermal-hydraulics code, the application of VEPCOs statistical DNBR evaluation methodology in implementing VIPRE-D, and the NRCs request for additional information on Topical Report DOM-NAF-2. The meeting attendees generally agreed on the proposed licensing action approach, and the licensee understood the NRC staffs request for information on the topical report [ADAMS Accession No. ML051920093]. Members of the public were not in attendance. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
