Message from Outage Director Our first priority remains to Increase RCS Inventory and Exit the Safety Assessment "Yellow' Conditions on Core Cooling and Inventory. To obtain this goal we must first complete our troubleshooting efforts on the Z-13 Containment Polar Crane. On 4113104, during Reactor Head Stud removal from the cavity, operators experienced the crane making an unusual noise. Work was stopped and a troubleshooting plan was initiated. A vendor representative who specializes In the mechanical portion of the crane operation has been here helping our Maintenance Department with the Implementation of the troubleshooting plan. The mechanical functions of the crane have been Inspected and determined to be working as designed. The unusual noise was replicated in the early morning hours of 4/16/04 while the main hook was being shifted from high to low speed. The noise appeared to be coming from the main motor. Electrical Maintenance then modified the existing troubleshooting plan to focus on the electrical portion of the crane drive system. Work has continued through the night on gathering technical data. A second vendor representative who specializes in the electrical aspect of the crane operation will arrive on day shift today to review the data and make repair recommendations. i6 I I I I i ii ii I I 'atormatiob ih this'record was deleted. in accordance withp e Freedom of Information Act, e19 ,7oios FoltE 0 1
