Melvin Holmberg Hills, David 4/29/04 12:13PM Fwd: Nozzle 26 Information Point Beach Unit I - Licensee has sent me C-scan plot of an Indication recorded in Nozzle #26. It Is 20-25% through wall with 60-80 degree circ extent. It Is subsurface centered on the down hill side In the middle of the J-groove weld extending into the nozzle base material. This area vw.scanned during last Unit 1 outage with TOFD transducer setup for maximum sensitivity to axial flawsjl
]To determine if this Indication is a crack the licensee is now performing a PT of the J-groove weld and intends to rescan the area with the axial sensitive probe. In parallel they are getting vendors ready to bring out repair hardware (earliest on-site would be late next week If needed). More to come...
