.-WATlERFORDU-Conn. - An emergencywas declared today at Millstone Power Station Unit 3. An Alert,, the second lowest of four emergency classifications used by the US.
Nuclear Rcgulatory Commission, was declared at 8:42 am Unif 3 hasbe ow aiia is iD a stable condition. Fial, state and local emergency response agencies bave been notificd. An Alert enswues that additional emergency response personnel are on s£andby and ready to respond if needed.
No release of radioactive maicrial has occurcd beyond thosc minor releascs associated with fiorpnal plant opemadons.. Thesc minor releases pose no danger to the public or plant workers.-The minor receascs arc be1w fcdeilly approved operating limits, below natural b~ckgrcund jevils and can not be detected at t'he site boundary.
Further information about cotditions atMillstone will be providcd as it becomes available.
As pan of the Millstone emergency response plan, an Emcrgmny Operations FAcility has been activated at the nuclear station in Waterfoid, Connecticut.
The Millstone Power Station is owned and operated by Dorinion.
