'imons Commitee on Lcislhtion S Committee on Heedt Good evening. I am unable to be present at tonight's hearing. I ask that my statement be made part of the record.

I have numerous concerns regarding the Indian Point Power Plants. The two most significant are their location and their age.

Given the population density surrounding the plants, they pose too high a risk totoo many people.

We are reminded daily by unplanned shutdowns and reports of malfunctions, that these plants are far from state-of-the-art. There have been significant advances In power plant technology. No nuclear power plant with the track record of these plants should continue In operation - and certainly not for another 20 years!

Thank you.
