SUMMARY
OF THE PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION FOR THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) STAFF TO DESCRIBE THE LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS On April 20, 2005, the NRC staff conducted a Public Information Session to describe the license renewal process to the public living near the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant. The purpose of the meeting was to provide information describing the license renewal process and how the public can participate. The meeting was held at the Monticello Community Center. A list of meeting attendees is provided in Enclosure 1, and the meeting agenda is provided in.
The NRC staff presented slides describing the NRCs license renewal process and how the public can participate in the process. The staff also answered questions from members of the public. Some of these questions related to monitoring of plant releases, sampling of the plant environs, and the relationship between the states environmental review of the proposed independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI) and the NRCs environmental review of the license renewal application.
The presentation slides can be viewed through the Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) using Accession No. ML051170183. The ADAMS Public Electronic Reading Room is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. Persons who do not have access to ADAMS, or who encounter problems in accessing the documents located in ADAMS, should contact the NRCs PDR Reference staff at 1-800-397-4209, or 301-415-4737, or by e-mail at pdr@nrc.gov.
