REMOVAL OF FEDERAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES (FTS) LINES FROM THE FORMER NEAR-SITE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS FACILITIES (EOFs)
Dear Mr. Gasser:
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will be removing the FTS lines from the former near-site EOFs for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, and Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, consistent with Southern Nuclear Operating Companys (SNCs) effort to relocate and consolidate these facilities. As you know, a condition of the exemption issued on April 6, 2005 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML050530140), approving the relocation of the former near-site EOFs requires that telecommunications be maintained at the former near-site EOFs. The NRC staff considers the availability of 5 standard telephone lines to be one means of satisfying the telecommunications condition of the exemption.
