-Mail Stop 012-G13 Washington, DC 20555-001 The Texas A&M University Nuclear Science Center (NSC) submitted an Application for Renewal of License No. R-83 on February 27, 2003. To date you have sent one formal request for clarification on the 2003 SAR dated February 17'h, 2005. I have responded to that request.
You have also sent three other requests for information as attachments to e-mails. I have seen none of these in the form of a "formal" request for information. I don't know if they have not been formally submitted, are in the mail, or are being held up on someone's desk here at TAMU. I have been working towards answering these questions as time permits.
As you are aware, the Nuclear Science Center is in the process of converting to LEU. This is a very laborious process involving my reactor supervisor, Brad Smith, and other members of the NSC, including myself. Also, as a result a number of changes as they pertain to a fuel conversion will be made to the 2003 SAR.
Given the aforementioned, I am requesting that the agency suspend the formal, short term requests for information on the pending SAR, including any formal requests that I have not received.
Instead, I propose that the agency continue to forward questions with respect to the SAR as they are formulated. I will then work toward providing answers, as time permits, but at the latest all responses will be provided with the submittal of the SAR changes associated with the fuel conversion.
