Description:

Initiator:

4/16/2004 9:07:14 AM - REIFF, ALAN:

After reviewing NP 4.2.27 and HPIP 1.73, there are different expected responses In each of the procedures for the various EPD alarms. This could result Is workers (including some RPTs) taking Inappropriate actions in the event of an alarm.

Why did this occur?:

4/16/2004 9:07:14 AM - REIFF, ALAN:

HPIP 1.73 describes the alarm including what it sounds like and goes on to state the required actions. NP 4.2.27, describes the required responses by anyone who receives an EPD alarm.

May not have been recognized that the HPIP contains worker responses that conflict with the NP Immediate Action Taken: 4/16/2004 9:07:14 AM - REIFF, ALAN:

Clarified with the RP group the expected responses to EPD alarms per NP 4.2.27, RP mamagement has requested that this information be communicated to all work groups at the 0600 OCC meeting on 4/16/2004. The same information will be communicated at the 1800 OCC meeting later today. The RP group will be notified of the procedural requirements per the NP at the night shift meeting, this Information is contained in the RP Supervisor turnover book.

Recommendations:

I Notify Me During Eval?:

4/16/2004 9:07:14 AM - REIFF, ALAN:

RP should revise HPIP 1.73 to remove any reference to expected actions taken in the event of an EPD alarm. The NP should take precedence as this procedure applies to all station personnel.
