LSN Indexing Schedule Announcement and Revisions to Document Status Field contents First, please be advised that the LSN system will not be performing indexing ("spidering") of documents (e.g., adds, deletes, header modifications, etc.) between October 8 and October 17, 2004. This is necessary due to database maintenance operations that we will be performing during the week of October 11-15. If we are unable to resume indexing by October 18, 2004, we will issue a follow-up communication.

The database maintenance operations include maintenance changes intended to fix problems identified with date range searches, searches on the author/organization field, and to improve response time for natural language content searches. We do not expect any interruptions to database availability for searching purposes during the October 8-17 period.

Additionally, in my September 22, 2004 communication, I notified LSN participants that an adjustment in the field values for the Document Status field was being coordinated to reflect recent field value changes proposed by the Department of Energy. There is one correction to that communication with regard to the values being proposed: DOE will be using "PRI --

Proprietary" instead of "PRI -- Business Proprietary".

I also indicated that we anticipated some minor adjustments would be needed to documentation, such as "Table A" reflecting bibliographic header structures and that we would be performing a review of the LSNA guidelines to determine if adjustments are needed there as well. As a result of those reviews we have determined that no changes to "Table A" or to the guidelines are needed as a result of the DOE changes.
