Dear Mg President:
I am writing to state my concerns about Indian Point Power Plant. Indian Point is a nuclear power plant in Westchester County,NewYork On September 11 theterrorists who crashed in to the World Trade Centers flew iight over the plant on their way downtown. If the attack had-been on the plant there would have been a nuclear melt down just 35 miles from New York City and within 50 miles from eight percent or20.
million of the Unitea State's-population Entergy, the company that owns the plant, has done tests to try to assure the public that if a commercial airliner had crashed in to one of the Indian Point Power domes it would not pierce them, but really no one can say for sure.
There have been three views expressed on the matter-close the plant down all together until it is-proven to be safe; convert the plant to another type otenergy facility; or leave the plant open the way it is. If the plant is closed we have undoubtedly have a power loss and possibly. epower shortage. '[his could cause many sudden black and brown outs.
Also the 1,500 workers at Indian Point will lose their jobs and that could have severe affects. on Westchester's economy. If the plant is left openthere is a high risk of a
- nuclear meltdown. The only way to go is to convert the plant to another type of energy facility such as wind or solar energy.
Wind and solar power energy have very low running costs. They produce no pollution in any way shape or form. For the safety of Westchester and many surrounding counties including New York City with out losing our energy, we need to convert Indian Point.
But we can't do-it on our own We need the help of the government to influence the NRC to force Entergy to convert the plant, please help us.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely Matt Rubinger P.S. I hope that if you don't help and there is a fll scale nuclear melt-down at Indian Point you. will actually follow through and give us the amount of money that you promise us unlike you did with the W.T.C.
