In support of the DBG rulemaking petition February 3, 2005 (11:53am)
I understand that you are accepting comments on the Petition for Rulemaking by the Committee to Bridge the OFFICE OF SECRETARY Gap (CBG) to upgrade protections against terrorist RULEMAKINGS AND attacks on nuclear facilities. ADJUDICATIONS STAFF As a resident of Hampton, NH, I live within the 2 mile radius of the Seabrook Nuclear Plant. I am very concerned for the safety of my 3 children and for children in the 8 schools within 5 miles of that plant.
We have recently been made aware of a specific threat aimed at the Seabrook Nuclear Plant by suspected terroristsu and live daily in the plant's shadow.
We are In the path of several airports from Maine to Massachusetts and need to see that the federal government Is doing its job in protecting us to the best of its ability.
The CBG proposal would do two things. First, it would require protection of nuclear facilities against air attack.
The second component of the Rulemaking Petition is to upgrade the Design Basis Threat (DBT) regulations to require protection against at least the number and capabilities of the attackers on 9/11.
I ask that the DBG rulemaking petition be adopted, as a first step in upgrading protection of the people living around nuclear plants throughout our country.
Sincerely, Kristie Conrad 395 Winnacunnet Road Hampton, NH 03842 Do you Yahool?
