OFFICE OF SECRETARY RULEMAKINGS AND ADJUDICATIONS STAFF In the Matter of ENTERGY NUCLEAR VERMONT YANKEE LLC and ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC.

(Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station)

Docket No. 50-271-OLA

Dear Administrative Judges:

By this letter, New England Coalition is requesting a forty-eight (48) hour extension in the deadline for complying with the discovery disclosure requirements. Counsel for New England Coalition conferred with counsel for the parties. All agreed to support this request. At this time New England Coalition is short-handed, as two of our key personnel-the executive director and secretary-both of whom were working to prepare the discovery materials this past weekend-took ill this weekend. The director has a high-fever flu, the secretary is in hospital with appendicitis. New England Coalition believes that this situation constitutes the kind of emergency that warrants a short extension in the filing deadline-particularly as we have the parties' assent to the request, no prejudice to any interest, and the time requested short enough to keep the case on schedule.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and granting this request.

Sincerely,

/7Joanthan M. Block Counsel for new England Coalition
