AQUATIC ECOLOGY ANALYSIS FOR THE LICENSE RENEWAL ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW FOR POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Dr. Dvorak:
This letter is to advise you of the recent extraordinary effort made by Dr. William Vinikour of your staff. Dr. Vinikour assisted with the aquatic ecology portion of the environmental review for license renewal of Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 (PBNP). Dr. Vinikour was originally a ?mentor for an individual from another National Laboratory on this project, and it was originally planned that his involvement with the project would end after the site audit in June 2004. However, it became necessary for him to take over the responsibility for writing the aquatic ecology portion of the environmental impact statement (EIS) after the original analysis was determined to be incomplete. Dr. Vinikour provided this service on very short notice to meet the NRCs deadline for submitting the EIS for publication. He worked long hours over the Thanksgiving Holiday to provide NRC with a comprehensive, timely analysis of aquatic ecology in the vicinity of PBNP. Due to Dr. Vinikours efforts, NRC was able to maintain the schedule for issuance of the EIS related to the environmental review associated with license renewal for PBNP. His service and dedication are truly appreciated.
