SUBJECT:
MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT
NOTIFICATION OF AN NRC BIENNIAL PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND
RESOLUTION INSPECTION 05000263/2005006
Dear Mr. Palmisano:
On January 31, 2005, NRC will begin the required biennial problem identification and resolution
(PI&R) inspection at your Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant. This inspection will be
performed in accordance with the NRC baseline inspection procedure 71152.
Experience has shown that these inspections are extremely resource intensive both for the
NRC inspectors and the utility staff. In order to minimize the impact that the inspection has on
the site and to ensure a productive inspection for both sides, we have enclosed a request for
documents needed for the inspection.
The documents are lists of information, necessary in order to ensure the inspection team is
adequately prepared for the inspection. The documents should be available for on-site review
by the inspection team on January 13, 2005. The inspection team will use the lists to select
additional documents for detailed review. The additional documents should be available to the
team when they return to the site on January 31, 2005, to begin the inspection.
The lead inspector for this inspection is Mr. Ronald Langstaff. If there are any questions about
the material requested, or the inspection in general, please do not hesitate to call Mr. Langstaff
at 630-829-9747, or to contact him by e-mail at ral4@nrc.gov.
