Docket 50-255 License No. DPR-20 10-Day Response to NRC Safety Evaluation-Palisades Plant - Request for Relief from American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section Xl Code Requirements for Repair of Reactor Vessel Head Penetrations (TAC NO. MC3931) 4 By letter dated November 8, 2004, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) transmitted the safety evaluation approving the subject relief requests. Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) has reviewed the safety evaluation pursuant to 10 CFR 2.390, and has determined that no proprietary information is included.
By letter dated November 8, 2004, the NRC also transmitted the safety evaluation approving the emergency license amendment regarding additional restrictions to the primary coolant system cooldown rate limits. The amendment was necessary to support the design of the weld repairs that were performed per the subject relief requests. NMC had submitted proprietary calculations with the license amendment request. In a subsequent telephone conversation, -the NRC staff requested that non-proprietary versions of the calculations be submitted to the NRC within 30 days of the date of the safety evaluation. Therefore, NMC is making the following commitment.

I NMC will submit non-proprietary versions of AREVA Document 32-5044089-03, "Palisades Unit 1 CRDM Nozzle IDTB Weld Repair Analysis," dated October 2004, and AREVA Document 32-5044161-02, "Palisades CRDM Nozzle IDTB J-groove Weld Flaw Evaluation," dated October 2004, within 30 days of the date of the safety evaluation.
