This letter is to inform you of a closed meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of governmental organizations from the communities surrounding Indian Point. This meeting was requested by elected officials and their representatives in order to facilitate an open discussion of security and emergency preparedness issues. At the meeting, NRC management and technical experts will address the important issues of security and emergency preparedness which are related to concerns being raised by stakeholders.
The meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2004, at the Edith Macy Conference Center, 550 Chappaqua Road, Briarcliff Manor, New York. The NRC Region I Administrator, Samuel J. Collins, will host the meeting and lead a discussion of selected topics including security and safeguards, emergency preparedness, recent plant performance, and independent spent fuel storage installations. This letter is to inform you of a closed meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of governmental organizations from the communities surrounding Indian Point. This meeting was requested by elected officials and their representatives in order to facilitate an open discussion of security and emergency preparedness issues. At the meeting, NRC management and technical experts will address the important issues of security and emergency preparedness which are related to concerns being raised by stakeholders.
The meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2004, at the Edith Macy Conference Center, 550 Chappaqua Road, Briarcliff Manor, New York. The NRC Region I Administrator, Samuel J. Collins, will host the meeting and lead a discussion of selected topics including security and safeguards, emergency preparedness, recent plant performance, and independent spent fuel storage installations. Representatives from NRC Region I, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, the Spent Fuel Project Office, and the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response will provide brief presentations, with the majority of the meeting reserved for questions and answers. In addition, representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region II office will be participating.
