Vermont Yankee Uprate is dangerous SERVED October 19,2004 My name is EllenTenney, I have a business in Brattleboro, VT.

Docket No. 50-271-OLA During the last VY shutdown I had the opportunity to meet and talk to quite a few of the workers that came into the area to work at VY.

I am tuly disturbed by the comments made by many of them reguarding the cost cutting, corner cutting and outright lack of regard for the public safety they saw while working at VY.

One of the workers said that he travels all over the world and has never seen a plant that the company so "obviously is trying to squeeze so much profit without putting anything back into it for safety". When I asked him to please consider speaking out he laughed and said, "Believe me I wish I could but I have a

'family to support. It would be the end of my employment in this field and it's all I know" That is frightening!!

This is an old plant. Please do not allow the uprate. Let it's license run out and then shut it down for the safety of this community and the entire region.

Which is more important, the safety of our community or the profits for the stockholders of Entergy.
