Holian Deputy Director Division of Reactor Projects U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 475 Allendale Road King of Prussia, PA 19406 Re: Public input on Entergy's proposed dry cask spent fuel storage system at Indian Point Mr. Holian, I am writing to request that the NRC - in addition to its planned informal public meeting - hold a formal adjudicatory hearing and a formal public hearing on the proposed dry cask storage system to allow for more meaningful input from experts, citizens, public interest groups, and elected officials.
While the informal meeting will allow for public statements and will feature a Q&A session, a formal hearing process will create an official record of individual comments and will ultimately result in a much more sound system of storing spent fuel at Indian Point. A formal hearing process would also allow for more detailed testimonies on site-specific issues.
