FW:.7ULLETIN--VSNA Meeting Wednesday Importance:

High\\

Folks, I've attached an e-mail regarding an upcoming VSNAP (Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel) meeting planned for Wednesday evening. The main focus will again be VY's impending power uprate. Although the NRC is not on the agenda for this meeting, I wanted to give everyone a "heads up" in anticipation of the media ublitzW that will inevitably follow. If you have any questions/comments, please call.

BULLETIN--VSNAP Meeting Wednesday Importance: High

Dear Fellow Vermont Yankee,

The Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel (VSNAP) will meet Wednesday evening in Brattleboro to hold another public hearing on the proposed Vermont Yankee Extended Power Uprate. We had great support from our friends in the community and from the Vermont Yankee family at the last VSNAP meeting held at the Vernon school earlier this summer, and we need the same level of support at the meeting on Wednesday.

Your support is especially important because it is possible that the VSNAP panel will be voting on a motion to ask the Vermont Public Service Board to postpone consideration of the VY power uprate until the fall of 2004. This would delay the project by nearly one year and severely damage the uprate schedule. We really need to show our support for the current schedule, and attending Wednesday's meeting is the best way to show this support. VY opponents are certain to be there to support the delay.

Please plan to attend the meeting and bring your friends and neighbors.

When?

6-8:30pm on Wednesday, August 20 (Seating is limited, so try to get there by 5:30 at the latest)

Where?

The Academy School, Western Avenue, Brattleboro (Behind the Congregational Church in West Bratt)

Proposed Agenda?

Presentation from the New England Coalition (opponents of uprate) on proposed uprate Presentation from the Vermont Emergency Management Agency on E-Plan issues Presentation from Vermont Yankee on operations and recent northeast blackout Public Comment from audience Discussion and possible uprate vote by VSNAP panel Questions?

Call Pat Lyman at 258-4178 Thank you and I hope to see you there.
