The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Regulatory Issue Summaries 2000-20 and 2003-02 to inform addressees of the importance of providing the NRC with advance notice of their plans for license renewal so the NRC staff can better plan and budget for the processing of renewal applications. This letter provides advance notification that the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company plans to pursue license renewal for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. It is anticipated that the license renewal application will be submitted in September 2010.
