Power Uprate Approval To the Vermont Yankee Team, During the past ten days the Vermont Public Service Board has issued two Certificates of Public Good that support the Vermont Yankee Power Uprate Project. The first certificate, issued on March 15, allows Entergy VY to install the modifications required to implement the power uprate. Although the Board's Order puts conditions that we must meet prior to increasing power above our present ratings, I am confident that we will be able to meet the Board's conditions.
The second certificate, issued on March 19, allows Entergy VY to install the modifications required by the ISO-New England study that analysed the impact of the first step of the Power Uprate (80 MW) on the transmission system. A request to install the only other modification, capacitor banks in the 115 KV Switchyard, required for the second step of the uprate in 2005 will be submitted to the Public Service Board for approval in approximately two months.
As a result of the Board's Orders, any restrictions that were previously applied to the installation of the EPU-related modifications during the Certificate of Public Good approval process are no longer in effect.
The approval of these two applications by the Vermont Public Service Board is an acknowledgement that the proposed power uprate has negligible environmental consequences and is in the best interest of the citizens of Vermont.
Let's go do a SAFE, HIGH QUALITY job implementing our Power Uprate and show Entergy and the people of Vermont that their faith in us continues to be well placed!
