Emergency Preparedness Project Office Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Dear Mr. McGinty:
Enclosed is a copy of the final report for the March 2 and 16, 2004, plume exposure pathway exercise of the offsite radiological emergency response plans site-specific for the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations (SHCNGS). The State of Delaware and its risk jurisdictions of Kent and New Castle Counties participated in this exercise. A copy of this report has been provided to the State of Delaware.
One Deficiency and two Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCA) were identified during this exercise: however the Deficiency and both ARCAs were satisfactorily corrected prior to this final report.
Based on the results of this exercise, the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness for the State of Delaware and the affected local jurisdictions, site-specific to the SHCNGS, can be implemented and are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the public health and safety in the event of a radiological emergency at the site.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (215) 931-5546.
Sincerely, Darrell Hammons Chairman, Regional Assistance Committee Enclosure
