Letter from Mr. G. S. Vissing (NRC) to Mr. P. E. Katz (CCNPP) dated March 25, 2003, "Response to Generic Letter 96-06, Assurance of Equipment Operability and Containment Integrity During Design-Basis Accident Conditions, dated September 30, 1996 (TAC Nos. M96792 and M96793)"
In Reference (a), we made a regulatory commitment to prevent waterhammer in the Service Water System by placing the service water pumps on step "0" in the loading sequence of the emergency diesel generator.
In Reference (b), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission concurred with this decision.
Reference (b) also requested that we advise the Nuclear Regulatory Commission when the modification has been fully implemented.
We have now completed this modification on both units and consider our response to Generic Letter 96-06 closed.
