SUMMARY
- The unit operated at or near full power throughout the month of June with the following exception: On June 19, 2004, power was reduced to about 600 MWe for scheduled rod pattern adjustment, control rod testing, and maintenance to repair several heater drain valve steam leaks. The testing and maintenance activities were completed and the unit was requested to operate at less than full power on June 20, 2004, to support grid conditions. On June 21, the unit was restricted from returning to full power due to a malfunctioning low-pressure heater normal drain valve and the "B" turbine driven reactor feedwater pump (TDRFP). The valve would not fully open and prevented the restoration of the heater drains to support the unit proceeding to full power. The "B" TDRFP failed to increase speed during pump startup. The heater drain valve controller was replaced and the demand signal to the TDRFP control valve was adjusted. The unit was returned to full power on June 23, 2004 and operated at or near full power for the remainder of the month.
