Ford Nuclear Reactor - Amendment, Decommissioning Plan
Dear Sir:
The University of Michigan's, Ford Nuclear Reactor is submitting the enclosed decommissioning plan for the Ford Nuclear Reactor and requests approval of the decommissioning plan to be included as a supplement to the Safety Analysis Report pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(b)(5). This decommissioning plan contains a request for changes to the Technical Specifications and changes to the license conditions appropriate and necessary for the approval of the decommissioning plan.
The University requests timely approval of this license amendment. The Ford Nuclear Reactor building is centrally located on the University's North Campus and will provide much needed research space following decommissioning and renovation. To support timely approval, the University put forth considerable cost and effort to ensure the decommissioning plan addressed the appropriate NRC guidance and incorporated the lessons learned. The University further commits to promptly address questions that arise during the review.
