Re: License Renewal Application - Millstone Gentlemen:
None of the adverse conditions at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station in Waterford, Conn. has improved, in fact, given world conditions, conditions have worsened. We strongly urge denial of the license renewal application to the NRC. The mssing fuel rods reported months after the loss was discovered have still not been located so that radioactive fuel is out there somewhere and it is this agency which once again is applying for renewing their activities.
All are aware that those of us on the North and South Forks of Long Island have no evacuation possibilities in case of a nuclear disaster. The only protection we have would be to shut down this nefariously dangerous facility.
The money and power that the NRC has is overpowering, as we can see by the repeated and indominate approval that this admittedly dangerous facility has managed to wrest, despite the overwhelming expressed wishes of the Long Island communites whose lives are being regularly endangered.
We urge you to deny the renewal application and restore some sense of responsibility and trust-worthiness of our government who says its concern is public safety and environmental well-being.
