Withdrawal of Request for NRC Review and Approval of Caldon Engineering Report ER-404, Revision 2
REFERENCE:
Letter from M. P. Gallagher, Exelon Generation Company, LLC, to USNRC, 'Review of Caldon Engineering Report ER-404, Revision 2," dated December 19, 2003 By the reference letter, Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) provided the NRC with copies of Caldon, Inc. (Caldon), Engineering Report ER-404, NTopical Report Enhanced Accuracy of LEFM CheckPlus Systems in Backup Modes of Operation," Revision 2, dated December 2003, and requested NRC review and approval of the report.
Subsequently, the NRC notified Exelon that revised NRC processes would not allow the NRC to review and approve a topical report that was submitted by a facility licensee without a corresponding plant-specific request for a license amendment.
By letter dated May 11, 2004, Caldon, as the vendor of the LEFM CheckPlus System, requested NRC review and approval of Engineering Report ER-404 (previously submitted by Exelon) on the Caldon project number. Therefore, Exelon hereby withdraws its request (see reference letter) for NRC review and approval of the report on the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Unit 2 and Unit 3 Dockets (Nos.
50-277 and 50-278, respectively). Exelon requests that the NRC continue its review of the Caldon report in an expeditious manner.
