[ WISCONSIN W, grrg HISTORICAL E8-264-64O or SOCIETY March 11, 2004 Mr. Roger Newton Point Beach Nuclcar Plant 6590 Nuclear Road Two Rivers WI 54241 SHSW#: 03-1046/MN RE: License Renewal: Point Beach Nuclear Plant
Dear Mr. Newton:
We have received your submittal of March 4, 2004 regarding the above referenced project. Based on the documentation provided, it is not possible to determine that the fisherman's shed is not eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
We recomnrnend that a qualified architectural historian prepare a NPS10-900 form for the property and submit it to our office for review and commcnt.
As pointed out in our letter of January 6, 2004, it is not possible to dctcrmine if project activities, including leased property under cultivation are having an adverse effect on unidentified archeological sites within the proposed project area. As J mentioned in our telephone conversation, there would be two options regarding archeological sites. First, you could complcte an archeological survey for all projects lands pursuant to 36 CFR 800.4 or we could develop a Memorandurn of Agreement that would detail how and when archeological surveys would be completed for land management activities.
We look forward to working with you to complete the Section 106 review process in a timely maniner. If you would like to discuss these matters in greater detail, please call me at (608) 264-6507.
Sincerely, Sherman Banker Office of Preservation Planning
